Wayne Shaw is a Lieutenant with the Montgomery County, Maryland, Fire & Explosive Investigation Unit. His partner Hank is a two year old yellow lab who has been in service as an accelerant-detecting canine for about eight months. Hank is Lt. Shaw's second canine partner.
Lt. Shaw's previous canine partner, Tipper, retired at the age of 9-1/2 with 6-1/2 years of service. Tipper was featured on The Discover Channel for her part in helping to solve the largest Arson for Profit case in Maryland history.
Lt. Shaw has been in the fire service for the past 32 years. The last 14 years he has been assigned to the Fire & Explosive Investigation Unit. He is a Bomb Tech, Certified Fire Investigator through IAAI (CFI) as well as NFPA certified under 1033. Lt. Shaw also carries other fire related certifications.
