Board Member - Brian Geraci Brian was a Battalion Chief with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, Montgomery County Maryland. At the time of his retirement from the fire service in December of 2006 he was assigned to Montgomery County's Homeland Security Department. Chief Geraci has over 30 years of fire service experience and was a charter member of the County's Hazardous Incident Response Team and Bomb Squad where he served in a team leader's capacity on both teams. Chief Geraci has certifications as a Fire Investigator, Fire/Explosive Investigator, Hazardous Materials Technician and Fire Inspector III. He also held certifications as a bomb technician and law enforcement officer during his time in the fire marshals office. Chief Geraci spent over 24 years within the Office of the Fire Marshal as an Inspector, Investigator, and Supervisor of the Field Fire Inspection Section and Commander of the Fire Code Enforcement Section and the Fire and Explosive Investigations/Bomb Squad. He was the county's Assistant Fire Marshal for 13 years. Chief Geraci has attended numerous conferences, seminars and courses in the area of Hazardous Materials, WMD, Fire/Explosion Investigations and Fire Code Enforcement to include numerous courses from the National Fire Academy. He is a member of a number of organizations including
the International Association of Bomb Technicians and Investigators,
International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), National
Association of Fire Investigators, American College of Forensic
Examiners Institute and the National Fire Protection Association.
Chief Geraci has served as board member and in several officer positions
to include President of the MFEIA Chapter of the IAAI. Chief Geraci
has a Fire Science Certificate from Montgomery College a Certificate
in Public Fire Protection Management & Administration from UMUC
and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Fire Science from the University
of Maryland, University College. Chief Geraci is currently working
as a consultant in the area of fire and explosive investigations,
fire and building code analysis and school safety and security matters.
